About Dr. Leo

Dr. Leo is the owner and one of the veterinarians at City Park Veterinary Services. His goal is to develop a veterinary practise focused on nurturing a healthy team so they can give their best selves to their clients and patients.

Dr. Leo found his love for animals at a young age on his family’s mixed farm in rural Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and obtained degrees in Animal Science in 2009 and Veterinary Medicine in 2013.

After practicing as a mixed animal veterinarian in rural Saskatchewan for four years, Dr. Leo and his husband, Peter, wanted a change of scenery. They found the change they were looking for in Australia, where Dr. Leo did relief work as a small animal veterinarian. During their time abroad, he was given the opportunity to work on a wide range of species, including kangaroos, koalas, and echidnas, but most of his patients were dogs and cats. This experience provided a window into the management and operation of a variety of small animal practices, from small day practices to large emergency clinics and teaching hospitals. He came out of this adventure motivated to nurture a clinic culture that is a great place for staff, clients, and patients. Dr. Leo finished up some time in mixed practice before moving to Saskatoon and working in small animal practice starting in 2019.

Dr. Leo has developed a wide breadth of skills and knowledge in his years of practice. He has a special interest in diagnostic imaging (ultrasound specifically), dentistry, and surgery. His favourite part of veterinary medicine (other than the adorable animals) is the relationships built with clients. Animal people are the best kind of people, and as a veterinarian, Dr. Leo gets to work with them every day!

Leo and his family – Peter (husband), Grizzly (dog), Riggs (cat), and Kimchi (cat) have settled in the City Park neighbourhood and love it so much they decided to start a business here. They look forward to becoming a supportive part of the community and to meeting more of the great people of Saskatoon. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Leo enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible running, camping, horseback riding, and kayaking in the summer. In the winter, he enjoys curling and whatever the weather will allow outdoors!
